Friday Photo: An American 4th of July

Each Friday I’ll serve up a photo and give you the story behind it. This week, many of the PCVs in the east gathered in Fada N’gourma for the US Embassy’s Independence Day event.

The Burkina Faso US Embassy, including the ambassador, came out to Fada N’gourma yesterday to celebrate America’s independence and share a bit of culture as a part of it’s new “American Road Show” program. It was a great chance to meet some of the embassy staff (including former softball teammates), important Burkinabe in the region, and of course enjoy some good eats. In lieu of the traditional hot dogs and hamburgers, we feasted on excellent beef and fish skewers. I had the honor of having the FAIJ director-general as well as my entire regional office in attendance.
